Friday 25th October 2019
A very important week for all Year Groups with regard to feedback on recent Assessments and Progress – well done everyone! The majority of you have received very encouraging marks / grades and this will enhance your learning, especially for Years 11 and 12 who are returning to GCSE Science Modular Exams immediately after the mid-term break.
Year 8 had very important visitors to the College on Monday morning – their Primary Principals, who joined them for Assembly on ‘Managing My Work’ and presented by 8 LMK. There was then a ‘Meet and Greet’ session with past Primary pupils followed by a tour of some Year 8 subject classes – a very enjoyable morning for all involved.
A huge thank-you to our Year 8 Parents who met with their child’s respective Form Teacher in the course of this week. I trust you found the meeting positive and encouraging. We believe Year 8 have settled in very well and are working extremely hard.
Boys and girls join up for all the extra-curricular activities happening at the moment – such a vast range – check them out with Mr Loughran. Well done to the Year 8 Football and Year 9 Hurling Teams who had great success this week.
Today was also busy with Year 12, 13 and 14 Parent Teacher Meetings – so again thank you to our parents for presenting to discuss your child’s progress. This is a very pressurising time for all pupils preparing for GCSE and GCE Examinations and the demands placed upon our young people seems to grow every year. Boys and Girls, please look after yourselves to keep a healthy and positive mind. Talk to someone if you need advice no matter how small the problem! Key to our success is the excellent 3-way partnership involving the school, pupils and parents. We all rely on each other to keep the support and the momentum going. We know there will be positive results in August 2020.
And a little reminder to Years 11 and 12 to study and revise during the mid-term break in preparation for GCSE Modular Exams upon our return.
Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank all our parents and guardians for their on-going support. The College will be closed next week as pupils and staff avail of a very well deserved break. School will reopen for everyone on Monday 4th November.
Have a Safe and Happy Halloween
