Week 21

Friday 14th February 2020

Hello there!

We were delighted to have a large number of parents/guardians present today to receive an update on the progress of their son/daughter both in Years 10 and 11.  I would be confident that every discussion was very positive.  The Year 10 meeting was also an opportunity to discuss GCSE Subject Options in preparation for Year 11.  This is a crucial decision for Year 10.  It’s important to select the subjects that are crucial for your future pathway, and of course, don’t select subjects because you’re friend might be studying them.  All forms must be returned by Monday 24thand if you are still unsure, please seek advice from the Careers Department.  Good Luck with your choices and thanks to all our parents/guardians for your continued support to the progress of your child.

Despite the poor weather, the Shared Education Careers Convention in conjunction with Cookstown High School, was very successful. Pupils in Years 10 – 13 attended and asked pertinent questions of a range of businesses and employers with regard to the skills and qualities required for specific job roles – all very relevant and appropriate for future pathways.

Year 12 worked well in their DA Biology Practical – another step closer to the completion of the Science GCSE Exam. Year 11 and Repeat Year 12 pupils, remember to keep the revision going for your Science Exams on Wednesday 26th after the Mid-Term.

Have you seen the fantastic cartoons on Facebook for the Illustrator 2020 competition? Wow1 – absolutely brilliant and well done everyone with all your entries.

Due to the poor weather, the MacRoryQuarter Final‘V’ St Patrick’s Maghera, has been rescheduled to next Tuesday 18thFebruary in the Loup GAC @ 7.30pm. Come along and support the Team – it will be a great game.  Good Luck to the Team and Management.

Anyway, on that note, it is time to log off and look forward to a relaxing mid-term break.  The College is closed Monday 17th – Friday 21st inclusive, reopening on Monday 24th February. Science GCSE Modular Exams occur on Wednesday 26th with Post 16 Options Information Session on Thursday 27th @ 3.30pm. Assessment Week 2 commences on Monday 2nd March.  Boys and girls, take some ‘down time’ but do try to spend a few hours studying and in preparation for all assessments.

Have a lovely relaxing Mid-Term
