Friday 20th December 2024

Hi Everyone

We have reached the end of Term 1, a very busy and productive Term, so we are ready for our Christmas break!.  There have been so many positives and whilst it is a good time to reflect on our achievements, we also look towards the future. Learning and teaching has been our priority and at this stage, pupils have received oral feedback on Assessments, and reports for Years 8 – 14 will be issued on 28 December 2024. There are A Level Exams in January, and also a Subject Sampling Day and Open Evening for Primary 6 & 7 pupils and parents/guardians – a busy month ahead.  I am so proud however, of every pupil and every individual staff member for their commitment and work ethic this Term.

Year 9 were doing a lot of Christmas baking, and they also received their Pupil of the Month Awards. Same for Year 10 and the Sponsored Walk Prize winners. Well done to Mrs Lagan’s Year 12 RE Class who bought ‘Trocaire Gifts of Change’ demonstrating ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’ (Acts 20:35). Great work also occurred in W5, Belfast when we joined with Cookstown High Students to participate in exciting interactive STEM challenges in mixed Teams. We have fabulous pupils in our school.

The highlight of this week was the fabulous production of Disney’s Frozen, the West End Musical. With standing ovations  for every performance, the cast and crew involved can only be extremely proud of every moment.  Fantastic acting, singing, music and dialogue from start to finish.  Well done HTC – another milestone achieved in being selected as one of eleven schools in the UK to win performance rights for the show and the first school in the UK to actually perform it. Miss Mc Curry and Mr Mc Gartland deserve a well-earned rest during Christmas.

And indeed, sales from refreshments during the shows along with fundraising last week, amounted to £2160.43 for SVDP.  What a fabulous total.  Thank you everyone for your generosity and support.

Upon our return to school on 6 January 2025,the work continues straight away in preparation for BTEC Exams and Year 9 Parent Teacher Meeting on Wednesday 8th.

Congratulations to Daniel Kelly and Monica Wyer who were winners in the Holy Trinity Foundation Christmas Alumni draw.  We are delighted you have won such fabulous prizes and hugely appreciate the support from our sponsors, Glenavon Hotel and LCC.

And so, we have reached the end of a long, hard working and demanding term and I know pupils and staff will be delighted to receive their holidays.  School re-opens for Staff and Pupils on Monday 6th January 2025.

I thank our parents/guardians for their continued support, kind words, patience and appreciation of all of us.  Your support to your child goes without saying and you can be assured that we will do everything possible to support them along the way.  Our thanks are also extended to our pupils who do their best every day, to our community, and to the Board of Governors, whose support is invaluable.

On behalf of everyone in the College, I wish all our pupils, staff, parents/guardians, Board of Governors and readers, a Happy and Holy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.  Keep safe and please God, 2025 will be a happy and positive year for everyone.

See you next year!

Isabel Russell
