Week 13

Friday 8th December 2023

Hello Everyone

Have you seen it?  Our fantastic Christmas video? I am so so proud of our young students and staff who worked together to present their version of ‘Fairytale of New York’.  What a tribute to the late Shane McGowan, who was buried today. Thank you everyone for supporting our very talented singers and musicians – they are an absolute credit and we are so proud of them.

It is with great sadness we learnt of the passing of our past pupil, Mattie Mc Guigan last weekend.  A lovely young man, taken from this world all too soon. To Mattie’s family, girlfriend Clodagh and many friends, we keep you in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.  May Mattie rest in peace.

Last night, the MacRory Team travelled to Roslea but the result didn’t go our way!. A draw it was ‘v’ St Patrick’s Cavan, but simply not enough overall points to progress to the next stage.  Disappointment was evident for the Team and Coaches, but we’ll regroup and prepare well for next year.  Best of luck to the remaining Teams in this prestigious competition.

It was Assessment Week and I commend all students in all Year Groups.  Their work ethic shone through.  No doubt, results will be amazing.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visits to our partner Primary schools this week.  It was great to have a ‘catch-up’ with our Principals as we all endeavour to work together to support the young people in our care.

Check out the joint Art Exhibition with Cookstown High School in the Burnavon during December – fabulous talent on display.

And that is it folks.  Another week over - where is the time going to?

Have a lovely weekend.

Isabel Russell
