Week 12

Saturday 3rd December 2022

Hello Everyone

I reflect on a Saturday morning, of the 2 x enchanting evenings of Winter Wonderland held in the College. The excitement on the Children’s faces (and of adults too!) was a sight to behold as they entered the Santa Cabin and made their way to Santa’s Grotto. The workmanship of HTC staff and personnel from Santa’s Magical Christmas Shop & Experience is to be commended. They and their elves worked day and night to ensure all was ready for a warm welcome. Huge thanks to everyone involved including the Stall holders, musicians, Wysebites, Michelle Coey, Home Economics Department and Al Forno Artisan Woodfired Pizza – delicious treats all night.

Local Primary schools also came to visit yesterday and what a smile on those young faces!! – it did your heart good to see it all.

On a more serious note, the GCSE Modular Exams are finished for this series. I have to commend our students on their work ethic and conduct-they were outstanding. Well done everyone and we look forward to excellent results in February.

Some exciting football matches this week – the U-16 Girls made it through to the Ulster Final having beaten Sacred Heart, Newry by 4 points after extra time – a tightly contested game. On the same day, the MacRory Team had a fantastic win against St Mary’s Magherafelt with a scoreline of 2-11 : 1-9. The HTC MacRory campaign is underway!

It was a pleasure to welcome Mr Seamus Mc Aleer (Mc Aleer & Rushe) and Community Foundation NI for the launch of a charitable Fund under the auspices of the Seamus Mc Aleer Fund. We hope to recruit a social worker/Family support worker to support the provision and advancement of educational & developmental opportunities for young people in the Cookstown area.

Don’t forget girls and boys, the Christmas Exam period commences Monday 12th December. Revision booklets are on the website. Prepare well and be proud of your success.

Have a lovely weekend.
