What should I do if?

Attendance/ time keeping

My child is late to school?

On their arrival to school your child should present to the General Office and sign in.  You should contact the general office and explain your child’s lateness or, alternatively,  you can provide your child with a note to present on signing in to the college.

My child is sick and unable to attend school.

Contact the college on the first day of your child’s illness and inform administrative  staff of the reason for your child’s absence.  On your child’s return to school write a note in his/ her student planner.  This note should be shown to your child’s Form Teacher so that absences can be authorised.

My child has to leave school for a medical/ dental appointment.

Appointments should, where possible, be made for out-of-school hours.  In exceptional cases, your child should bring a signed note and the appointment card.  The note should be presented to the child’s Form teacher who will countersign it.  Parents/ Guardians should present to reception to sign the child out.  If returning to school your child should present to the General Office and sign in again.  Please note repeated requests to leave school will be referred to the Year Head, Mrs Monaghan.

My child is late for class and unsure of where to go.

As far as possible, your child should endeavour to remain with his classmates when moving or changing classes.  If your child is uncertain about where they should be he/ she should present to the General office and he/ she will be directed from there.

School buses

My child has forgotten/ lost his/her bus pass.

Your child should report to the General Office and ask for Mrs Litter who will advise regarding a replacement bus pass.

My child has missed the bus.

Your child should inform Mr O’Donnell or another member of staff doing bus duty that he/she has missed their bus.  The child should then make their way to the General office and arrangements will be made to contact home and ensure your child gets home safely.

My child is unsure of which bus to board.

On your child’s first and subsequent days he/ she will be excused from class early in order to become familiar with the bus number and location. Mr O’Donnell and other teaching staff will be available to help.

School Uniform

My child has forgotten his/ her tie or other item of uniform.

Your child should inform his/ her Form teacher during am registration.  The Form teacher will inform the relevant staff and Year Head, Mrs Monaghan.

Your child should inform his / her Form teacher and his /her PE teacher.  Arrangements may be made to provide alternative uniform items and/ or your child may be able to contact you.
