Week 31

Friday 5th May 2023

Hello Everyone

We celebrated our Year 14 Leavers’ Mass last night, with students, parents / guardians and staff. It was a most uplifting and emotional occasion, the Liturgy and Readings of which were added to by the beautiful singing from Year 14 Student, Cara Monaghan, tinwhistle playing from Year 13 Dearbhla Canavan, and our new Year 8 Choir. We were delighted that Bishop Router, Auxiliary Bishop of Armagh, could celebrate Mass for us. During his sermon, Bishop Router spoke eloquently and passionately to our students about their future, their uniqueness, their talent and skills, and to always have faith in God in following their dreams and aspirations. A huge thanks to Mrs Quinn and Mrs Conway for organising the Ceremony alongside Mrs Coleman and the RE Department for the Liturgy; Miss Mc Curry and Mr Mc Gartland for the lovely Music; Year 14 Form Teachers, Study Supervisor Miss Dillon and Subject Teachers who provided so much care and support to our young people during their time in school. It was lovely to welcome so many parents/guardians back to the College for light refreshments, distribution of Year Books and a final farewell.

On the subject of exams, I hope you found the Exam Information Session beneficial on Tuesday evening. This event was open to students and parents/guardians from Years 11 – 14, with discussion on resilience building, Exam Tips, student thoughts from Jed Kelly in Year 13 and past pupil Cara Mc Clean, and finally the Exam process itself. It was very informative and we appreciate the feedback too, which we will build on for next year.

A Level Exams commenced this week with Agriculture and Business Studies, however it is all systems go as of Tuesday 9th May when we return to school after the Bank Holiday. We wish all our students the very best of luck and to be guided by the Holy Spirit at all times.

The Annual HTC Golf Classic was very successful on Monday and now that Building work is underway for the new school, there will be plenty of meetings and possibly, more fundraising activities, to ensure we have the best possible resources for our students and staff.

Our Year 8 Secret Students continue to shine and as a Year Group, Year 8 are fantastic. We are so proud of you.

And that is it folks for another week – another new month has begun and yet another Bank Holiday.

Have a great weekend – relax, and enjoy whatever the Bank Holiday will bring.
