Week 30
Week 30 – Thursday 14th April 2022
Hello Everyone
The last official day of Term 2 was yesterday and what an intense week it has been! Students in KS4 & KS5 have been working ever so hard on subject revision, coursework, exam technique and so on. They are to be commended on their work and positive attitude. We wish them well in their exams which will commence within a few weeks.
But today, I also want to congratulate Years 11 and 12 Science students who undertook Single & Double Award GCSE Biology and Chemistry Modular Exams in February. Their results are outstanding and they deserve the highest of praise bestowed on them. Today’s results will augur well for final Results in August 2022, and similar in August 2023 for the current Year 11 students. I know Head of Department Mrs Mc Allister and her staff are equally as proud of everyone today. Well done to both students and staff.
A number of staff will also hold GCSE and A Level revision sessions next week (during the Easter Break). The sessions are aimed at Years 12, 13 and 14. The sessions will have many benefits but will also support peer study for those who may find it a little difficult to settle to study on their own.
We extend our thanks to SWC student, Stephen Fitzpatrick, who carried out his work placement within the ICT Department, under the watchful eye of Mr Mc Stocker. Stephen was a great asset to the Department and we wish him well with the remainder of his Computer Science Course.
Congratulations to Blaine Ryan, Ruairi Mc Hugh and Shea Quinn, who were worthy recipients of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools GAA Football All Stars 2022 Awards. And, congratulations are also extended to Year 8 student, Dairine Campbell who was selected for the U-14 Derry Camogie Panel for 2022. A fantastic achievement for the lads and Dairine!. Well done everyone!
Term 3 commences with an online Year 8 Parent Teacher Meeting on Monday 25 April. Pupils do not attend school on this day.
The following Monday, 2nd May, we hold the annual Golf Classic to raise funds for the new College build. You can sign up for the Golf and have a great day out at the same time.
Thank you to everyone within our school community for your support during this Term. I wish you and your family, a very safe, enjoyable and holy Easter Break.
